Editing Humor

Now that book one is done, and no more editing will be applied, I’ll share with you some of the funny sentences I had to fix. I hope you have a good laugh like I did.

“It stood magnificent tall and magnificent, glowing in the dark cavern.”
“Very cleaver of you.”
“dingy not dinghy”
“Dashing dashed out the door”
“gently touching the plague” – not plaque
I spelled the word “uncomfort” and thought why is it telling me it’s wrong. Oh, its discomfort.
“It doesn’t look like special, does it?”
“..adjusted uncomfortably on the bed, the springs squeaking under her moments”
“he only saw the tree hat grew next to the inn”
“She roughly brushed them away, but didn’t look away.”
“he made his way to the other side and stepped down safely on the other side”

Editing is hard, but sometimes it gives us a nice laugh. I loved using the read aloud option on both scrivener and word. It helped find more errors that reading alone. The best part of using this option was hearing my story out loud. It brings to life your story in a way that you never expect. I still read my story and think, ‘wow, I wrote that!’

I don’t think I’ll ever get used to that when writing. Well, off to writing on book two! If you are ready for the adventure to continue, and want the latest updates, please sign up for email notifications on blog posts. I’ll be working on newsletters next year, so signing up now will automatically sign you up for the newsletter.

Until next week, may you always find the right words!
