WHAM!

November is no longer NaNoWriMo. Due to everything wrong the company has done, two creators have offered alternative names:

1) WHAM! – Write Hard All Month – and if you reach 50k words you get the exclamation point! (credit to Author Casey Jones)

2) WAFLS – Write A Fucking Long Story – same outline as the former writing month. You can find all the info and worksheets on the Strong Branch Productions website.

I like both, but WHAM! sounds awesome. So, that’s what I will be calling my writing month this year. Honestly, I never used any resources from that group. I thought you just set the goal of 50k words, and wrote all month. I didn’t really look into what the program was all about. All I’ve been doing is writing 1600 words a day (I usually go to 2k so I can skip a day if life decides to throw in a mess) so I can reach 50k in 30 days.

I look forward to writing the first 50k words of a new book. It’s my favorite part of the writing process. I love the creative flow with letting the story come to life. I love the surprise of what lands on the page that I didn’t even consider.

What book am I going to write this month? A fantasy mixed with anime themes. Something out of my normal range of stories, but I was given the idea by my son who thought it would be a great story. He’s a big anime fan, and I haven’t watched that many. So, I hope I can do it justice with research and creativity. If you are writing this month, I send you good writing vibes and hope you reach your goal!
